Postcards

I have gotten a few of my photos printed out as postcards. I am very happy with the outcome. I were thinking of maybe trying to sell them in a stall or similar. I have however discovered that a stall is rather expensive. For a single stall in my local library at crafts day I would have to pay £30 for one day. I would have to sell a lot of postcards in order to get some sort profit... I have looked at other options as well like selling them on Ebay, but the postcard selling ventures I have seen there has been mostly related to quantity. I should have maybe have looked better into my idea before I made the other. Oh well, at the end of the day I still have 60 postcards of my own photos that I enjoy looking at. My family can look forward to getting more regular updates in the mail until my stock runs out :)

Signs of spring

It's been a cold winter and I thought it was still holding it's cold hand over this country. This weekend I took a trip to Hampton Court Palace, South West London, and it changed my mind

Spring is here

St Patrick's day parade

Sunday I was out with a few friends from London Flickr meetups and camera to photograph St Patrick's day parade in London. Were there in good time to get the best spot. It was a sunny, great light for photography, day. It seemed to me that there were less people there to watch the parade and it was shorter then what I can remember from the past. Some said that it was because it was on the same day as Mothers day. It did not matter, just meant that it was easier to get close to the action. You can see a collection of the photos I took here

Home sick, macro shooting

For the last 24 hours a stomach bug has been rattling my cage, literary. It is so boring being at home all day, just waiting... So eventually something had to happen.

I dug out my camera and mounted it to a tripod and started photographing random things I could find around the house. Not every object is suitable to take photos of, grapes are impossible. Almost any object that has bright colours are good.  Well it made my day go by, and now the Simpsons are on TV. Things can only get better. You can see more of my macro shooting here Have a great weekend

London by Video

To get a feel for what a place is like I often look at photos, photos friends have taken, photos I can find on the web and so on. When I eventually get there what I find doesn't always resemble the photos I saw.  Proportions and colours are all wrong. Of course I take my own pictures, and when I look at them I get the same feeling. So what is the solution to this conundrum you might ask.. The solution is not to stop editing your photos as some may say. For me the solutions is Video, so I can really see (and hear) what the place is like. I have therefore begun to film around London. Have started with the most common places like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and London Eye. Many more to come.

Anything you would like to see in London? Let me know and I'll do my best to get it on film

Tip: Itunes photo sync problem

I have recently bought a new laptop. Transferring files from old to new was easy enough, but I did discover a problem. When I wanted to sync photos from my new computer to my Ipod, nothing got transferred. Luckily I found out how to resolve the issue. When you sync photos from your library to your Ipod / Iphone Itunes creates a folder called "Ipod Photo Cache" Itunes uses this folder when syncing with devices. Within the folders of photos I transferred from my old computer were a Cache folder. What I guess happened is that Itunes tried to make a new folder, but since the folder already excised it failed. Why it could not simply use the old folder I don't understand. The solution is to delete the old folder. When you then sync your Ipod you'll see that a new  "Ipod Photo Cache" folder is created

Bird watching, day one

I placed a bird feeder in my garden about a week ago, and it seems it has been a bit of a hit with the local bird community. Every morning, when I have looked out my window, there has literary been a queue. I figured it would be fun to photograph and identify the different types of  bird that come to the feeder. Today I have therefore been sitting very still with my camera in a door opening, and I've borrowed a handbook to identify them. So far I have seen two different types:

 Blue Tit

Great Tit

Android App - A world of photos

After reading a few good reviews about an Android application called “A world of photos”, I went to the Android Market and downloaded it. The basic idea is that you spin your phone, like spin the bottle, and then you ask someone in that direction who also has the app installed to take a photo. I installed the app and started getting requests from all over the globe to take photos. I was fun for about 5 minutes, but then I started getting requests from people with usernames like ShowMeYours and NakedPhotosOK – and I thought to myself, maybe not the sort of service I want get involved with. The biggest problem for me regarding this app were that even though I had turned background data off I would still get requests to take photos, not much fun in the middle of the night. On top of that it is not possible to turn off the warning sound within the application. I could of course turn the sound of my phone, but then what is going to wake me up the morning? So last night at 3 am I uninstalled A world of photos

Remembering

I am not going to be able to go to the next LCP meeting, but I have done the work on the subject that was selected – Remembering

A memory fades with time. Maybe one day all I can remember from that day is that it was autumn and the leaves were yellow
